The devo today is about making prayer a part of our life routine. Frankly, I think many people become apprehensive when they think they have to have a set time of prayer everyday. Now, don't get me wrong, I think that is a great idea, but, more important we need to make prayer a part of our everyday life, all the time. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "pray continually". The idea is that we be in a spirit of prayer all the time, throughout our life. That is the best routine we can establish. For example; many times when I am showering in the morning I will pray and ask God to wash my heart, soul and mind. I will give thanks for hot and cold water. When I drive to work I will often praise God for the infrastructure, roads, police protection, etc... When I hear a siren I will pray for whoever it might be needing the assistance. I use reminders throughout the day to help me remember to pray. Pray should be our daily lifestyle routine. Now, with that in mind, it is a good idea to establish some routine to a more formal prayer time with spouse and children. Try to consciously make prayer a part of your daily routine. It works and it is worth it.
God bless you,
PJ

I follow a simple acronym for guidance. ACTS. A for Adoration, C for Confession, T for Thanksgiving, and S for Supplication. ACT seem to be a small part at times when S is the bulk of my prayer time. Regardless, I feel that God honors my routine as I spend time communicating with Him and that is what He wants. Satan sometimes defeats me by telling me that it is routine and ritualistic and God isn't there, but I know better because of His Word and promises. Father, help me to communicate with you, not only at a specific time each day, but through out the day as life comes my way.
