This coming Sunday is Father's Day. I am personally captured by the idea of being a good father. I am grateful that God, our heavenly Father, is the best father image I could have.
My father is 91 years old, he is hard of hearing, slow in response and his advanced age is leaving him very frail. He has tried hard and his best efforts are greatly loved and appreciated. Thanks Dad!
I have a Christian heritage because of the faithfulness of my father, but even so, God the father in heaven is the best example.
I chose to learn all the good I can from my earthly father, but the best example is my heavenly father. Give thanks for your earthly father and give praise to God for Him being your heavenly father.
Take time this week to show appreciation to your Dad!
God bless you,
PJ

Having failed as a father, I struggle with that role. I also don't know why I have such a hard time visualizing and accepting God as my Father. Dad was a good example to me of a father and I have the highest respect for him in that role. Often, God feels far away and unreachable and nothing like a father. I understand that is because of my own perspective and I have to get into His Word, read it, accept it and then simply choose to trust Him as my Heavenly Father. I know He cares for me and wants to be there for me all thru my life. I want Him there, too. As the devo states, I have to spend time with Him, listen to Him, read His Word, and then choose to trust that He is the perfect Father and will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank you Father for your love and patience with me. I know you are there and always will be.
