The closing verse in the devo is so impactful, if we do it! "Worry weighs a person down; and encouraging word cheers a person up." Proverbs 12:25
This is an area I am trying to consciously do more! I run into discouraged and defeated people who need guidance and encouragement daily. From my perspective so much of the media is extremely negative and many of us have caught the disease. I try to encourage others and I really thank the Lord for people who encourager.
If we think about it, we can compliment most people. Try it... it may be the best word that person will receive all day.

I like encouragement as well as the next person. What I need to work on is speaking an encouraging word to those around me. I need to be sensitive to people's need for encouragement. It costs nothing yet has huge rewards for the person receiving the word. It is also rewarding to me when I see the result of an encouraging word given to someone. The Bible is full of encouraging words and is one of the many reasons I need to read it daily.
