We have an amazing abiblity to justify our desires and do about whatever we want. This devo on desire is so good. This devo asks a good question; "How can I know if my desires match God's desires for me?"
One of the things my dear wife and I ask; "Does it produce the fruit of the Spirit?" Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
If my desires produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit, it is most likely that they are from the Spirit of God.
How do you measure the intent of your desires?
Test yourself!

I am wonderfully made and God has designed me to have desires. In this world I live in, many of those desires are a part of my natural being. That doesn't make them automatically ok to pursue. Some are simple. I desire to eat something good, and it is ok to do so, but I must choose to eat in moderation. (ouch). Some are complicated, with consequences that affect not only myself but family, friends, business, etc. These must be controlled so that the consequences are positive and not selfish. I have missed my morning devotions due to a number of reasons and I desire to get back to having them. Having daily devotions with communication with the Father, helps keep my sinful desires in check. The Holy Spirit can work in me much better when I am open to His guidance.
