Some have said, it was the custom of the Jewish people to offer to forgive 3 times and Peter offers to double it and add one, thus, 7 times. When Jesus said, "seventy times seven" it was as if he had said a million or more times. It blew the listeners out of their comfort zone. It also gave us an idea about God's attitude toward forgiveness.
God forgives endlessly because He loves us that way. Since I am not perfect, I am very grateful for His unfailing love and forgiveness. Today, remember how much and many times God has forgiven you, yes, remember all the little things and all the big things... God forgives. Keep seeking His forgiveness and continue to live and love in an attitude of forgiveness. That is true Christlike living.
God bless you,
PJ

All the years of my rebellion, Satan hammered me with the thought that God would not forgive me anymore. He has and now is working in me to forgive myself and go on. Being in His Word on a daily basis feeds me with His promises and Love. Spending daily time in communication with Him strenghtens me. He remembers my past no more, and I need to put it behind me and go forward with Him.
ReplyDeleteGreat word for all of us Richard!
ReplyDeleteSo true! I struggled long with the thoughts that God would never forgive the sins I had committed. I was led to believe that my past was to much, that what I had done was separated myself to far. But, I was wrong, they were wrong! I came to a point, that my knees were the only place left. I fell to the bottom, shattered emotionally and spiritually. I prayed my heart to God, I poured my confession out of my heart and mouth. God not only listened He heard! I turned myself away, and with God's help, guidance and support I have come a long way!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the forgiveness, grace and wisdom, God! Thank you for the blessings, now, later and coming. All I do is for your service Lord.
