Discouragement 1 & 2

We read about discouragement yesterday and now again today. For most of us, discouragement returns more than we would like to admit. I had a very discouraging day this last week. I found a trusted confidant and shared my frustration and discouragement. They couldn't change a thing, but they could listen and show their care. We also prayed together. The devo is right... trust God! That is essential! And it tells us to not get tired in doing what is good... because we will reap the benefit in the future. (Galatians 6:9) When our hope is beyond the discouraging circumstances, then we can live beyond our discouragement.

What do you do when you are discouraged?

God bless you,

PJ

  1. I admit that the last couple of weeks has been very discouraging. Am I doing the right thing? Am I too old? Is this really what God wants of me? Questions, stresses and confusion. The TV says I'm saved, everything will be great, bountiful and happy?
What do I do? I gather the courage to get encouraged. What I have learned from Pastor Joe, Bible Study and the examples my many friends set, is to stop, sing a few lines of praises to the Lord, instead of being down , look up. It sounds cliche, but this is the best time to get the Lord to send you a phrase, passage or message from within the scripture.
As the devo says, the more discouraged, the more we need to become encouraged. But it also reminds us of our ultimate encouragment, the promise of a "Harvest of Blessings, as our reward." Oh Lord, what a Day!!!!!

  2. I get discouraged frequently. My yard needs work but it is too hot and I wear out too quickly. My office is a mess and I don't know where to start in cleaning it up. My closet is not as organized as I like, but I am too tired to mess with it. I don't get up and do my morning devotions. My family is not perfect like the Cleavers. All this discourages me. The key is to choose not to be discouraged. I am normal and very few people are squeaky clean and organized like the tv family. When I spend time in prayer and reading God's word, He speaks to me with words of encouragement. I am not going to be here all that long. Heaven is my goal. This is not an excuse to be lazy and let things go, but I can quit comparing with others and just do my best for Him.
