Is it me, or You?

Very often we think or feel we are distant from God and we often think it is because God has drifted off. So I find myself asking, "Is it me or You?"

Generally when I feel distant from God it is because my behavior and interaction with God has changed. I discovered that I generally need to refocus my life on Him and worship Him. Very often when I feel distant from God, I have learned something He desires me to be or do and I don't want to do it... so I distance myself from Him. Sometimes it is a Truth I don't like, so I distance myself from Him.

For me scripture reading, corporate worship and fellowship with other Christians are a remedy for feeling distant from God.

What about you? What makes you feel distant... what makes you feel near to God. I see that is what we are working on for Monday.

God bless you,
PJ

  1. As I noted in yesterday's devotional, God does not move away from me. I have moved away from God. It is one of the reasons daily devotions are so important in my Christian life. Yesterday I did not read nor spend time in my daily devotions. I went fishing with my brother in law and his cousin. Did I fail and did God move away from me? No, though Satan tried to tell me so. I had an opportunity to be a Christian before these two good men. I felt God's presence in my life as I enjoyed the beauty and majesty of a small corner of this world He created. I could have listened to Satan and felt defeated or I could listen and remember God's word that He is with me always. My daily devotional life is not dependent upon an office in my home where I read the word, a devotional guide and have my prayer list. Nor is my relationship and the feeling that God is near dependent upon it. The feeling of God's presence is a choice I make to know Him no matter the routine. I also know that because I do spend daily time with Him alone, I can take opportunities to break the normal routine without losing His presence. He is so good to me. Thank you Father for always being there and thank you for forgiving me when I move away from you.

  2. Both blogs are so true. Sometimes I distance myself from what God wants or needs from me, while sometimes I want to feel that God distances Himself from me due to my inactions or deeds.
God does not distance Himself from us. Satan wants us to do this so we get off course, don't allow this!! As both blogs write, staying in the Word, prayer, fellowship with our brothers and corporate worship all reaffirm our relationship with God. It is so hard to remembe that God is glorious and forgetful of our sins. Once we accept Christ in our life, turn from sin, and pray forgiveness, Christ our savior is there in our heart. I am so thankful, so glad that God is there.
    Praise our Lord!!!
