Daily Proverb

Remember yesterday I wrote about faith risks not foolish risks. Satan takes us toward foolish risks! God leads us toward faith risks. Sometimes there is an obvious difference. Other times it is more difficult to know. I have found the daily reading of a chapter of Proverbs as a great way to exercise caution and find wisdom for discerning if I am faith filled or foolish. For many years I have read the Proverb chapter that matches the day of the month. Today I would read Proverbs 17. The reading of Proverbs has been an outstanding way to gain the wisdom of God and it serves as a great caution against foolish risks. You might consider adding the Proverb reading to your daily devotions. Oh, by the way, just because you read it for a month and work your way through the book of Proverbs, it doesn't mean you have got it. I found that after years, God continues to reveal new truth from the verses I have read many times. Seek God's word!
God bless you,
PJ

  1. Pastor. It has been over a year now that you included this guidance in one of your messages. God has been working in my life and has led me to expand on it to some extent. I encourage others to read Proverbs on a daily/monthly basis. It is full of directions on gaining wisdom and making wise choices. I also want to thank you for your spiritual leadership and pray for you daily.

  3. I found the challenge verse very interesting. From my past readings of Ecclesiastes I did not remember this verse, and when I looked it up in my NIV Bible, Ecclesiastes 10:13 did not read like the NLT. I like the NLT translation of this verse. I think many today base their worldview on foolish premises, leading ultimately to "wicked madness."

  4. Boy does this devo hit me square in the forehead. How many times have I gone ahead and did something without consulting God? Everytime I messed up is the answer, LOL.
Serious, this devo is so true. Pastor Joe, your challenge is so wise and sound instruction. I not only challenged myself, I humbly requested my wife to take the challenge. What a difference it makes. The proverbs are a wealth of life maps, it also helps build the foundation I think we all (Christians) need to help fortify our spirit. I see the recurring theme, Immerse yourself in the Word, Seek God daily, Give all to Him.
Pastor Joe, I also pray daily that God strenghens your body, nourishs you spirit and grant you wisdom. Thank you Lord for Pastor Joe and thank you Pastor Joe.
