"Peace Man"

The very statement "peace" conjures up late sixties and seventies memories of some hippie appearing person making the traditional peace V with their fingers.

However, God desires that we experience something much deeper and eternal than a hippie image of peace!

I often turn to 4 Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I practice verse six and experience verse 7. When I do this, I can even have peace in the midst of life's battles.

God bless you,
PJ

  1. Pastor Joe, the vision of you standing there saying "Peace" and giving the sign? PRICELESS!!!!! LOL
Pastor, I realize that was not your goal or point, but you gave me a hearty laugh.
Pastor, in one of our sessions you gave me this passage, you are priceless! This passage 6 & 7, do keep me calm, and you know I need that, LOL, the times we battle or are in conflict are tough, for me, you and the people around us. This passage keeps me grounded in the trust and abilities of the Lord. It is almost an oximoron, to Rejoice? Again, Rejoice? But, truly the feeling as you give joyously, the issues, problems and hangups over to the Lord. It is like a cool shower on a hot steamy Oklahoma late summer day!
I thank you Lord, I know it seems i am constantly on my knees in front of you, but daily I need your direction, help and knowledge. Lord, you are my salvation, I am but a wretched sinner, needing you Lord.

  2. At this stage of my life having the peace of God is so important. Health issues, Children issues, Parental issues, Work issues. worrying about retirement, trying to stay on track. We can not see the big picture nor the over all plan. Therefore trusting in Him, believing on Him, choosing to accept His peace in regard to every aspect of my life, is the only way to make it through each day. He offers peace where there may be none. Thank you Father for your word and my fellow believers. I pray peace in their lives beyond comprehension. May we simply trust you daily.
