The Real Thing

I have grown up attending church all my life. My dad was a preacher. Shoot, I don't know, I might have been born in the church. However, it seems like many of us who have been churched all of our life... we can have a form of appearing like we are saved but we don't have the real thing (remember the old Coke ads, Coke, the Real Thing).

It is easy to simply be around church and hear the words or simply say, I think heaven sounds better than hell... I choose heaven. But we have never really confessed that we are a sinner and need a Savior. Each of us must recognize that we are sinners, no matter how good or bad we might have been. Romans 3:23... for all have sinned.

Each of us must receive Christ into our life for personal salvation and the key indicator of it being real is obedience.

You might want to read 1 John 5:11-13... "He who has the son of God has life and he who does not have the son of God does not have life."

Get the real thing! Jesus Christ!

God bless you,
PJ

  1. Always am I aware of the sin that I confessed, that I am a sinner. Confession is not only admitting, it is the turning away from the old self to becoming the new born Christlike person of God. So many times as I lived the life of a sinner did I meet and talk with "Christians" that felt because they attended church on Sunday the sins they committed with me during the week were forgiven. It took a "sinner" that confessed, turned away, then lived for Christ, to show me what a true Brother of Christ is.
Lord, I Casey Pate am but a lowly sinner. I confess that my heart needs you. I turn from sin to you Lord. I need you everyday, may I walk in your light, may I know your ways. Only with you am I.

  2. I understand Pastor. I grew up in the church, too. It was easy to put on the show for Sunday and for the various positions held. Yet, I had not taken the steps to confess and accept. I lived the way "I" wanted to. The cost has been great. Thank you Father for working quietly and consistently in my life to bring me to the point of true confession and acceptance of your gift of life. Continue to work in me and through me to bring my family and others to you.
