Walk on Water!

I am challenged by the faith risks Jesus calls me to take. Today, more than ever, here in America we have to take a faith risk to follow Jesus. More Christians are mocked and rejected here in America than ever before. It is risky to follow Jesus!

I am challenged by the story of the Disciple who got out of the boat to walk on water and follow Jesus... that was risky. As long as he kept his eyes Jesus he succeeded...when he looked at the wind and waves (life, problems, people, economy, etc...) he would sink.

I am going to keep my eyes on Jesus and live risky for Jesus!

God bless you!

  1. Pastor Joe, I am also challenged by the same passage. I want to be the man willing to risk all and step out onto those waves! I have faced a lot of risks in my life, the biggest by far is turning my life to Christ. People nowadays look upon christians in such a light. What once was so inspirational to follow Christ is now looked upon as wrong. We cannot show a manger scene, cannot pray in school or sing God Bless America.
This breaks my heart, but inspires me on to maybe change or affect (In the best way) people I come in contact with on a daily basis, to show that Christ is the answer. Maybe by my example, appearance or words I can let people know that Christ is wanting them.
I pray daily to keep my eyes on the Lord, for the Lord and with His will.

  2. I like my comfort zone. Not sure I would have gotten out of the boat. I don't think Jesus was to upset with the other disciples for not getting out of the boat, but can you imagine the boost to Peter's faith because he did? He learned what an awesome experience it was when he stepped out and was able to walk on the water. He also experience what it felt like to take his eyes of Jesus while he was out of the boat. If I am to take risks, they better be at the leading of Jesus and I must keep my eyes on Him. Another lesson to be daily in the Word and in communication with the Father so I am prepared when an opportunity for risk comes my way.
